ABOUT lesbian art salon

The act of creating art in any form reminds the world at large, and perhaps even more importantly, ourselves, that we exist. It is the trapping of the deep, intuitive voice within paint and other materials which act as amber. Art is our innermost selves stepping outwardly into the world and shouting “Don’t you dare erase me.” 

 

Art not only represents reality, but it creates reality. It says “look at me, look at what you believe, look at what you feel” I am real, and so are you. It is the past, the present, and the future of ourselves. By creating sapphic art we honor the lesbians that came before us, the ones that will come after us, and our own lives.

 

Lesbian Art Salon exists for one reason. And it is to say:
